Big Wednesday board
This surfboard I used in Big Wednesday. I made it for big wave longboard surfing in El Salvador in 1977. John Milius wanted us to ride Fifteen foot plus surf with long boards. I ended up making probably {no historic claim here} the first "fungun" to outrun and manage big walls and still look like a "noserider", predating Rusty Preisendorfers "desert storm " design by about fifteen years. It needed to look like Balsa wood, so I sprayed it with paint and coined the term "falsa". One
of the very first. It is 8'6" x 20.5"x 3". Very fine condition,
considering Warner Bros. took it back to the prop department and
sprayed it fireman yellow to be a common background board for future
movies. A stuntman friend followed it for almost a year and stole it
off the lot and sent it back to me in Hawaii. I removed the paint and
put a clear gloss polish finish to it. Wonderful riding surfboard.
Single box. Greg MacGillivray has published at least three shots of me
riding that surfboard in Surfing, Surfer, and The Surfers Journal.
None of the replica falsa "woodboards" to follow, eight total, Terry
Martin and Tom Parrish shapes ever carried the "Bear" logo for editing
purposes, as did mine. Worth is the percieved value of what it is. An

If anybody's coming to New York from overseas we recommend you check out Tours of Brooklyn. We went around with these guys one day and we saw some great parts of Brooklyn we didn't even know existed, and we're NY natives!!
We've been seeing more and more of our Longboard cousins checking in from all parts of the country and around the world. Click on the map and see where everybody is dropping in from. As always, we welcome our fellow Longboarders from around the country and around the world to join us in the Forums Section or send us some pics of the surf in your area, we'll put them up on the site!
The Longboard Collector Club was established in 1992 to promote the preservation of vintage surfboards and surf memorabilia. It provided an avenue to buy, sell, and trade items. Some of the members began surfing as early as the 1930’s, but most started in the 50’s and 60’s. Next Longboard Collector's Club meet April 25th at The Beach Cottages meeting in Pacific Beach, San Diego.
And here's something that came in, in the meantime:

Legendary photographer Leroy Grannis needs your help.
Eddie : photo Leroy Grannis / Legendary Surfers
Yes, LeRoy's fallen on harder times, but he's able to supplement his Social Security and MediCal with his retirement from the telephone company. He's had to go from an assisted-living situation to being looked after by his son John. The real question mark lies with his "estate," as a whole. It has been appraised at around $1 mil. So, to all those who have come forward to help right now, there really is no mechanism in place to fundraise for Granny. This situation may change and if and when it does, I will be sure to let you know ASAP. Likewise, any news about Granny's photo collection, I'll be sure to pass along. Meanwhile, Granny is still with us and still "taking visitors." Go by and visit him. He is still the same great person we all love and what he needs most is more visitors." Anyone wanting to visit, just email me back and I'll send you the contact information.

Surfer Girls
The surfing resource for Surfer Girls, Girl Surfers, Surf Girls, and Women Surfers!
This site is dedicated to the wonderful and intoxicating sport that is surfing. It is also dedicated to the many Surfer Girls out there that gracefully glide among the waves finding a peace within their souls that only surfing can uncover.
We love surfing because it is an art as well as a sport. We love surfing because it is a sport that does not match an athlete to to another athlete...surfing is a match between a humbled surfer and the great Mother Earth.
We hope that you like our collection of links, stories, pictures, and valuable surfing information and find them to be helpful and inspiring to you. May you find all you are looking for among the waves!

Congratulations to the folks over at Surfer Girls for launching there new site. Took a look at the site and it looks great! We wish them the best of luck, definately worth giving a visit, just make sure you come back here!!

Small surf this weekend in the barely rideable size. Longboard only stuff. Plus the water cooled down a bit after having warmed up nice. A couple of days of that north wind blew all that nice warm water out. We were trunking it on Friday, 3/2 on Saturday!!
